A-ha! Real and Not Yet Glory

This is the final week of the liturgical season of Epiphany.  As is custom, we read the story of Jesus and the disciples, who witness the transfiguration of Jesus into his real and not yet glory.

But there is more to this lesson than just the mountain top experience. At the base of the mountain is a young child writhing with a demon. At the base are a group of folks who aren’t sure what to do to heal this child – especially while Jesus is gone.

We, like those disciples, are awed by the mountaintop and I believe are a little afraid of the demons and writhing in the valleys.  And that is exactly where we are called – to work, heal, advocate, & bring justice.  Because as members of Christ’s body, we know the glory that is to come.  Yet, while here in the valley, there is plenty for us to do.

Whoever you are and wherever you find yourself on your faith journey, know that you are most welcome here.

Joins us for worship on Sunday, February 7 at 8 & 10:15 AM.
