Hospitalizations
In accordance with HIPPA regulations, hospitals no longer contact churches when their members are patients. This includes all types of stays. Please contact Pastor Jack so that the church community can pray for you. You should also indicate if you wish Pastor Jack to visit you in hospital.
Weddings
Shepherd of the Hills welcomes members and non-members who wish to solemnly make these promises. While not considered a Sacrament in the Lutheran church, a wedding service is one where the couple, their family, and this congregation covenant together before God to support and pray for each other beyond the ceremony day.
The wedding service includes readings from the scripture, sacred songs, and biblical blessings. Should the couple choose, sharing communion is also a ritual that joins not only the bride and groom together, but all those who are there to witness the occasion.
Pastor Jack will meet with you and guide you through this process. Contact the church office at 973-729-7010 or email us to schedule a meeting.
Funerals
Funerals are times for families to celebrate the life of the deceased as much as they are to mourn the loss of that person. In our tradition, it is also a time to praise God for the gift of salvation through grace. The funeral service gives thanks to God for life here on earth and everlasting life in heaven. Arrangements for clergy presence at the funeral home and cemetery generally begin at the funeral home. Should you need to speak to Pastor Jack immediately, please contact the church office or email him directly.
