The sanctuary of Shepherd of the Hills provides amazing acoustics for instrumental and vocal music. We are delighted that two important musical organizations have chosen to utilize our space for their concerts.
The New Jersey Conservatory of Music, performs Handel’s “Messiah” at SOTH in December. This is a holiday favorite and has sold out in years past. They also perform an oratorio or other vocal composition in the spring. For ticket information, contact 973-402-2004.
The Sussex County Youth Orchestra is a non-profit orchestra that serves as an ambassador for New Jersey. The Sussex County Youth Orchestras (SCYO) are dedicated to providing young musicians with the opportunity to develop their musical talents to their fullest potential. This includes allowing them to experience a wide range of performance platforms where they can share their talents with the community. Most rehearsals are held at SOTH on Saturday mornings with concerts scheduled throughout the year.
Universal Academy of Fine Arts not only provides quality music education, but also instills a sense of community and participation within the students. Twice a year, the students perform recital concerts, the proceeds of which help to support the Sparta Ecumenical Council Food Pantry. This past June, the recital concert raised over $600, which was then used toward the summer lunch program of the Sparta ecumenical Council Food Pantry.
