Community Activities

Members of Shepherd of the Hills are committed to service to those in our community, those nearby, and to those far away. Our mission work involves members of all ages.
Sharing our time, talents, and energies in service to others is a central part of our church activities.

Easter Egg Hunt
Each spring, Shepherd of the Hills sponsors an Easter Egg Hunt that is open to all. Church members welcome families from the community for Easter crafts, an egg hunt, games, and refreshments.
This outreach event ushers in the festival season of Easter and heightens the anticipation of Holy Week and the Resurrection of Christ. For families with young children who may have experience in a church setting, this event welcomes them into our facility and allows a taste of who we are and what we do, in hopes that they will join us later for worship and education.

Outreach Sundays
Every 4-6 weeks, we pause in our education hour to complete a local or international outreach project. Parents and children are invited to work together in bringing the items, packing the items, and occasionally, delivering them to the appropriate agency.  These Sundays are great events to begin awareness of how we live in love with our neighbors.  Some of the projects we have done include:

Good Neighbor Toiletry Bags for the Homeless, Baby Kits for Lutheran World Relief, Cards for the Veterans Hospital in New Jersey, School Kits for Lutheran World Relief, Baby Blankets for Birth Haven in Newton, Community Garden for Sparta Ecumenical Council Food Pantry.
