Preparation for Holy Communion
All people are invited to the Lord’s Table to partake in the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Traditionally, students who are in fourth grade, with their parents, are invited to attend class in the spring in preparation to receive this meal.
Students and their parents declare their intention to the community during worship and then attend 4 classes and an overnight lock-in. Classes for preparation for Holy Communion are held on Sunday mornings during our education hour. Each student learns next to his or her parent about the history, the means, and the liturgical service of this life-giving meal.
As the parent is the chief teacher of faith for a child, there are occasions when a child younger than 4th grade may begin to receive communion. Should you feel that your child is ready for these classes, please contact Pastor Jack to schedule a meeting.
