Has Christ Been divided?
Has Christ been Divided?
This is a question that Paul poses in his letter to the Corinthians and is also the theme for this year’s Week of Prayer in Christian Unity. Huh? What do you think? Paul’s point was as poignant then as it is now – we all belong to Christ because it is through Christ that we have been saved. And if we start at that point – no matter what our denomination or political party or anything else that we use to separate us – than living in love for one another and working together as the body of Christ is something that we can’t HELP but do. Come and explore this with us. Worship is at 8 AM and 10:15 AM.
New Member Classes:
Missed the first session? No worries! There is plenty of room for you to join the next session on Saturday January 25 as we talk about what it means to be Lutheran. Can’t make it? Check in with Pastor Tina and she will make sure you stay up to date! We meet from 10 AM to 12 PM in the office study. Please contact Pastor Tina if you are interested. New members will be received on February 2.
Financial Statements for 2013:
Financial statements were mailed from SOTH on Tuesday January 21, 2014. If you do not receive one or need to speak about donations, please contact our Financial Secretary, Gordon Terhune.
Looking for a few good men…to cook!
The Sweetheart Dinner will be held on Saturday February 22 at SOTH. The details are still in the works BUT the hosts (Tom Garcia and John Seal) are looking for a few good men and boys to cook and serve what I know will be an amazing dinner. Contact either host to indicate your interest. There will also be a sign up sheet for you all on Sunday.
Flower Chart for 2014:
The flower chart is updated and hanging on the chore chart wall next to the Sunday School resource room. All are invited and encouraged to sponsor the flowers in honor or memory of loved ones. The donation may be placed in the offering plates during worship. Please mark it for FLOWERS. Thanks!
Worship Server Information Sessions:
We will continue these sessions on January 26 with Deacons. That role has changed a bit – both for the Deacon and Assisting Deacons. Please sign up in the narthex or email Pastor Tina of your interest! Then, on February 2, we invite those who wish to be readers to join us after church. We are also in need of a few good folks to serve on the Altar Team. Please consider serving in one of these ways each week.
Office coverage:
Pastor Tina will be out of town for continuing education January 27- January 31. Sylvia continues her vacation. If you have a few hours Monday or Wednesday to sit and answer the phone, please contact PTina. Pastor Chris Bruesehoff at Holy Counselor will be available for emergencies.
Beginning in February – The Power and Practice of Prayer:
For five weeks, beginning February 2, we will focus on prayer and its role in our spiritual lives in worship. Part of the study will include sharing different types of prayer practices for you to try as you enter into a closer relationship with God. We will also discuss prayer at our Wednesday Brown Bag Bible Studies (12-1:30PM).
A Blessed Epiphany to you all,
Pastor Tina 🙂
