Do you know what time it is?
As a fan of “Hamilton: An American Musical”, my answer to that question is “Showtime!”
More importantly, in the life of the church, we arrive at a time that is both now and not yet. We have celebrated to reign of Christ and are yet waiting for him to return. We have begun a new liturgical year where our focus will be the Gospel of Matthew. And as we begin a new year, we start at the end as we begin to tell the story of Jesus again. Welcome, then, to this season of anticipation and of revolution. We will read stories that prepare us for a new baby as well as a new world where God’s mercy and justice reign. We start with hope – of the things to come – a new baby and a new world. These are the days of our lives as we are asked to tell time and we are admonished to be ready for that new time & world. So come – however you find yourself and wherever you are on your journey. You are invited and welcomed and beloved. In Christ, |
