Love: As the World Turns
Love: As the World Turns
The fourth week of Advent is quickly approaching. We have lit candles for hope, peace, joy…and the last one to be lit is love.
Love – in this sense – is a verb. God loves us. We are called to love one another. It is the kind of love that gives up our sense of self for the other. In Greek, it’s known as agape.
This is scene for the Gospel this week. Joseph loves Mary. And he’s distressed because she’s pregnant with God’s child. But in a dream – he’s told who this child is and is to be. This means that Joseph’s first born, Joseph’s heir, is not his and that was important in the Jewish culture. Joseph gave up his right (to divorce Mary, to have Mary stoned, to have a biological first born son) so that God’s love, manifest in Jesus, came to dwell among us.
Love has come. Praise to you, God on high!
And come – however you find yourself and wherever you are on your journey. You are invited and welcomed and beloved.
In Christ,
Pastor Tina +
