Mission and Ministry News…

Ministry & Mission News:
Faith Formation: Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday and our Congregational Meeting/Sylvia Celebration, Faith Formation is taking a break until December 11.  We’ll meet December 11 & 18 and then take another break for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Advent Devotions: we have available two advent devotionals for your waiting this year.  One is pocket-sized (so you can take it with you).  The other is an ‘open door’ type with a bible verse a day.  Both are available at church for you.

Christmas Decorating: You are invited again this year to bring your Nativities to display in the windows of the church.  Find an open spot and set it up.  This is becoming a favorite for those who share and those who experience.

Hat, Scarf, & Mitten Tree: Each year, a special tree is put up that is decorated with hats, scarves, and mittens that are stitched by you all or purchased as gifts to communities that struggle to stay warm.  You are again invited to bring a ‘warm’ offering for this tree.  A portion of these will be taken to the Faith Kitchen in Dover the first weekend in January.

Wednesday Bible Study: will begin a new study on the book of Daniel on Wednesday, December 7 at 12 PM.  Bring your lunch and a bible.

Sending Sylvia Off:  It’s official – Sylvia has retired. We would like to send her (and Jim) off in style with a celebratory luncheon on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 11:15 AM in the Parish Hall.  You are invited to bring a dish to share…as Sylvia is partial to potluck events.

If your last name begins with A-F, please bring dessert.
If your last name begins with G-M, please bring a snack.
If you last name begins with N-S, please bring a main dish.
If your last name begins with T-Z, please bring a side dish.
Worship Servers for Christmas: We are looking for some help on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  We need readers, ushers, and deacons.  Worship on Christmas Eve is at 5, 8, & 10 PM.  Christmas Day is a Sunday – and we will have one worship service at 10 AM.  Sign up at church or contact Pastor Tina.
Ecumenical Prayer Cycle:  We join with Christians around the world praying for our brothers and sisters in joy and concern.  For the week of December 4 – December 10, we pray for Liberia, Sierra Leone.  Learn more about these countries when you click on the link, which will direct you to the World Council of Churches website.
