Mission and Ministry for November 27

Faith Formation: Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday and our Congregational Meeting/Sylvia Celebration, Faith Formation is taking a break until December 11.  We’ll meet December 11 & 18 and then take another break for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Advent Devotions: we have available two advent devotionals for your waiting this year.  One is pocket-sized (so you can take it with you).  The other is an ‘open door’ type with a bible verse a day.  Both are available at church for you.

A tradition that my family shared was to place the advent wreath on the table and light the candles as we ate dinner.  Then, gathered there, we read the devotion as a family after dinner.

What traditions do you share as you await the coming of the Messiah?

Christmas Decorating:  The trees are going up on November 21 (with a pizza & adult beverage dinner from 6- they’re up) and we will decorate them on Sunday, November 27 after the 10:15 worship service.

You are invited again this year to bring your Nativities to display in the windows of the church.  Find an open spot and set it up.  This is becoming a favorite for those who share and those who experience.

Wednesday Bible Study: will begin a new study on the book of Daniel on Wednesday, December 7 at 12 PM.  Bring your lunch and a bible.

Sending Sylvia Off:  It’s official – the rock of the office is retiring officially on November 30, 2016.  We would like to send her off in style with a celebratory luncheon on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 11:15 AM in the Parish Hall.  You are invited to bring a dish to share…as Sylvia is partial to potluck events.

If your last name begins with A-F, please bring dessert.
If your last name begins with G-M, please bring a snack.
If you last name begins with N-S, please bring a main dish.
If your last name begins with T-Z, please bring a side dish.
Worship Servers for Christmas: We are looking for some help on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  We need readers, ushers, and deacons.  Worship on Christmas Eve is at 5, 8, & 10 PM.  Christmas Day is a Sunday – and we will have one worship service at 10 AM.  Sign up at church or contact Pastor Tina.
Ecumenical Prayer Cycle:  We join with Christians around the world praying for our brothers and sisters in joy and concern.  For the week of November 27-December 3, we pray for Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger. Learn more about these countries when you click on the link, which will direct you to the World Council of Churches website.
