Preparing a Path to Peace

First – a reminder that we have one morning service this week in preparation for the Church Congregational Meeting to discuss our FY 2017 Spending Plan and then to celebrate the ministry of Sylvia & Jim Perara.  We begin with worship at 9 AM

The second week of Advent has us looking for guidance in a dark time. Our Gospel text tells us that John the Baptist was a light (a harsh and not always very tactful one) that called to the Israelites in a time of political and religious darkness.  Turn back to God!  Straighten out the road to justice and mercy! Immerse yourself in God’s love. Wait for the One who comes to bring peace!

John’s message still rings true for us who live in times of darkness (which happens in many ways at different times in our lives.) Repent is a turning back to God’s way – not the ways of the world.  Baptism was done by immersion in John’s time so we’re invited to go all in to faith.  Straighten the road of justice and mercy so love all of God’s creation (even when it’s hard).  The how is what we work on together as the body of Christ as the world turns.

Prepare for the light to come.  Be the guiding light for others.  This is the message as we wait.

And come – however you find yourself and wherever you are on your journey.  You are invited and welcomed and beloved.

In Christ,
Pastor Tina +
