Season of Creation – Animal Sunday

 “Sing to the LORD, all the earth!
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
let the field exult and everything in it.
Then shall all the trees of the field sing for joy.” (from Psalm 96)

The Season of Creation is a relatively new ecumenical movement that joins us with the rest of the world’s churches in remembering the Creator and to live in hope that we will live into our roles to care for what is before us.

This year – the theme is Wisdom – and many of our readings will come from Job (you read that correctly). We worship this Sunday with the entire living family on Earth.  We listen to their sounds, watch their movements, and wonder with them as they praise their Creator.  We give thanks for and with all our kin in creation.

After worship, we will embark on a Day of Service for 11th Hour Rescue and O.S.C.A.R. – two animal rescues with ties to our congregation.  We invite you to wear your golden “God’s Work. Our Hands” t-shirts with your comfy pant & shoes. See the information below for more details.

So come…whoever you are and wherever you find yourself in your faith journey, know that you are most welcome & invited here.

Blessings,
Pastor Tina

PS: Our brothers and sisters in Louisiana and California have experienced tremendous loss with the flooding and wildfires in the last weeks.  To help these folks recover, a donation to the Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR) may be made.  LDR is a respected organization that goes in before the others and stays longer through recovery – with all the proceeds going to the clients.  You can find out more and make a donation by visiting the Lutheran Disaster Response webpage.
