Mission & Ministry News for July 1

Thanks: to the folks who are helping to keep our gardens looking great.

Wednesday Prayer Meeting: Each Wednesday from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM,  you are invited to join Barbara Osborne in prayer for the church, the world, and all those in need.  If you have a specific prayer request, contact the church office.

HIPPA reminder: Due to federal regulations, hospitals do not contact the church when you are in hospital (or rehab).  If you or a loved one is in need of prayer or pastoral care, please contact the office or Pastor Tina (973-810-3330).

Summer Lunch Program: The SEC Food Pantry has begun collecting kid friendly meals for young people who will not receive free/reduced breakfast & lunch over the summer.  The following items are being requested:
Cereal, Ready to Heat Soup, Ready to Heat Meals (spaghetti-os),
Macaroni & Cheese, Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Pudding Cups, Jello Cups,
Healthy Snacks, Shelf Stable Milk

Items can be brought to church and placed in the shopping cart. Contact Emery Malasits if you have questions or would like to help pack bags at the pantry.

ALSO – we will be packing 100 bags on Wednesday July 6 @ 9:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church.  Please email PTina if you are interested or sign up at church.

Red Dumpster:  Connect for Community is collecting paper and cardboard for recycling dollars as one of their fundraisers.  There is a LARGE red dumpster in the parking lot at church for this cause.  You are welcome to recycle your cardboard and paper here.  PLEASE do not dispose of any other items in it.

Community Garden Year Two:  The garden is growing by leaps and bounds!  A first harvest of lettuce has been taken to the Food Pantry.  The vine plants are thriving with this weather – as are the weeds!  Make sure to take a look when you are here.  And if you like pulling weeds, go for it!

Ecumenical Prayer Cycle:  We join with Christians around the world praying for our brothers and sisters in joy and concern.  For July 3-July 9, we pray for Bolivia, Chile, and Peru. Learn more about these countries when you click on the link, which will direct you to the World Council of Churches website.
