Christ the King

Blessing and honor and glory and power be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. Amen.

Fitting words for a king or a president or a mayor.  Lauds and accolades abound – especially as we come full circle in the church year.  Last November, we waited anxiously for the promised Messiah – and this weekend, we celebrate Christ’s triumph.

But Christ is not the king of any realm here on earth.  Christ is not the leader of any nation or town.  We call Christ the King because of what he didn’t do – give up on us.  Christ gave of himself so that we may live with him forever.  That’s worthy of praise, thanksgiving, offerings and service.

Thanks be to God.

No matter where you are or however you find yourself in your faith journey, know that you are most welcome here.
