Blessed Christmas: A Message from Pastor Tina

Beloved:

The waiting for birth is often like waiting for death. It’s a journey from dark to light & it takes it’s own time.

We are blessed to be waiting, again, to celebrate the birth of the Christ. We wait in anticipation of the story of God’s love being birthed in human form.  We might know the story, but that doesn’t stop our excited waiting.

I’m writing to you all from Wisconsin as I sit with my family as we wait for the earthly death and heavenly birth of our mother & grandmother, Joyce Juergens.  The holiday for us is bittersweet this year. We hold to the promises God made with us: we are not alone.  God is with us. We will live again in God’s company.  It is truly a full circle year.

So what about Christmas as Shepherd of the Hills?

We are blessed (truly) to have an amazing council that has helped pull the details together., led by Wendy Whipple.

All worship services will proceed as planned.

Advent Lessons & Carols will happen at 8 & 10:15 am Sunday morning.  These will be led by those who attend. There will not be communion at those services.

Pastor Bruce Davidson will lead the Family Worship at 5 PM.
Pastor Terrence Walsh will the 8 & 10 PM worship services on Christmas Eve and the 10:30 AM service on Christmas Day.

If there are any emergencies while I am out of town, Pastor Chris Bruesehoff of Holy Counselor Lutheran Church is available to assist you.   He can be reached at 973-570-8084.

Please keep the Reyes-Juergens family in your prayers, as well as all families who are grieving during this season of light.

May you all be blessed wherever you find yourself on your journey this year.

In peace,
Pastor Tina
