February 2, 2020 is: Groundhog Day, Superbowl Sunday, Candlemas, and the Presentation of Jesus (along with the purification of Mary because this date is 40 days after Christmas).
We’re calling it Light of the World Sunday. Simeon proclaimed Jesus to be a light to the Gentiles and glory to the people Israel when he saw Jesus in the Temple. Our Gospel readings for February are centered on the Sermon on the Mount, where folks are blessed and the disciples are likened to salt and…LIGHT.
We ask that you think about a person (or many people) to invite – so that their light shines with ours. We also will celebrate with the Sacrament of Baptism at the 10:15 AM worship service – and we’ll give the young one a candle, reminding him to let his light shine.
To that end, we’d also like to meet together after worship with a great time of fellowship and food. An online sign up has been created so that you are able to share your gifts with the community. We’re using SignUp.com to organize our upcoming SignUps.

I pray that this Sunday (which is halfway through our winter season) will bring light and God’s love to all who join us.
