P3: Praying Together with Help from Jesus
Our prayer lives are generally very personal and individual. But every Sunday, as a community, we join together to pray for the church, the world, and all of God’s people. Why? Two immediate reasons are that praying together draws us closer into community and it helps to ease the path of forgiveness. Jesus, when asked by his disciples, gave a template for prayer that helps us to incorporate all those things. Join us for worship on Sunday morning at 8 and 10:15 AM.
People Resources:
Not only does SOTH rely on your faithful monetary offerings, but we also are always in need of your skills and your time. No task or project is too big or too small. Check the chore board, ask Pastor Tina.. This includes the other note about worship servers but isn’t limited to that. Many hands make light work of being good stewards of our facility.
Sweetheart Dinner 2014
Save the date for this year’s Sweetheart Dinner on Saturday February 22 at 7 PM. John Seal and Tom Garcia are the hosts for this fun event. Contact them if you are interested in helping to cook and serve your sweetheart. I hear the menu is Italian…
Save the date:
The SOTH Youth will host a Mardi Gras pancake fundraiser on Sunday March 2. This is a kickoff event for the fifteen months of preparations that we begin for the National Youth Gathering in Detroit in 2015. More information in the weeks to come…But a pancake breakfast is one to NOT miss!
Financial Report:
The numbers are in for giving and spending for FY 2013
Budget Actual
Income $304,621 $291,592
Expenses $293,921 $295,175
Net $10,700 $(3583)
Overall, the congregation finished the year with a very small deficit – $3583. That number is encouraging as it was better than forecasted for the year. December Income was 20% greater than budgeted while expenses were in line with the budget.. I am confident that we will be able to meet our spending plan goal for FY 2014 based on how FY 2013 finished. I know that God is doing great things with us.
Attendance numbers also show an upswing. For 2013, the average weekly attendance for two services was 128 people! That number is 36 more folks than 2012. I know that 2014 will be another year of growth with folks and stewardship here at Shepherd of the Hills. Thanks be to God for all that we have been given and for the work set before us!
