Reformation. Change. Restoration.
Reformation. Change. Restoration.
This Sunday we celebrate who we are as we all remember our baptisms, the work of the church, and the faith to which we all profess. We remember the courage and faithfulness of Martin Luther and all who worked tirelessly to bring new life in Christ. As Lutherans, we are ever reforming, ever changing and ever restoring the Good News of God. This is most certainly true.
We Welcome.
Door Re-keyed: As of October 18, the Hunter’s Lane door has a new lock. If you are a member of the church council, a volunteer cleaner, or a team leader, please make sure that you return your old key and pick up a new one during office hours.
New Pew Bibles: Those who attend the 10:15 worship service have noticed a change. Along with the worship information and announcements, they are receiving a Common English Bible to read during worship. These bibles join the NRSV version found in the pews that we use at 8 AM.
Why two versions?
The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) is an academic and more traditional version that folks who grew up at Lutherans recognize (including Pastor Tina).
The Common English Bible (CEB) is a newer translation that also takes 21st century language patterns into consideration. This version is easier to understand, which makes it useful for younger Christians as well as those new to worship.
Both versions are indeed the Word of God – meeting the people where they are.
We Equip.
Faith Formation: This week we invite all learners to our outreach Sunday. Led by Missy T. and Carsen T., we will create holiday centerpieces that will accompany the deliveries on November 23 in cooperation with Project Self-Sufficiency.

We have two opportunities to help those in our community with holiday meals.

Sparta Ecumencial Council Food Pantry is preparing to package 800 extra bags for Christmas/Hannukah meals for those in need in Sussex County. They would appreciate the following: canned vegetables, boxed stuffing, canned yams, instant mashed potatoes, canned turkey gravy, canned cranberry sauce, applesauce, apple juice, cookies.
