Risky Business of Faith: Healing & Sabbath

Risky Business of Faith might stir memories of a 1980s movie – but that’s not where we’re headed! God calls to folks (then and now) and asks them to be faithful – as God is faithful to them.  Completely. Extravagantly. Always.

This week’s risk – entering a place on the day of rest, and without asking, being restored in the community of faith. It doesn’t sound like a scandal so much – but for the one who is in charge of keeping order – it was inconceivable.  Why?  The rules call for no work.  And healing is work.

Jesus, of course, is in the middle of this. Healing and Sabbath, he reminds the priest, are complementary and part of what God intended. And in today’s divisive and fractured world – it’s a needed reminder for us. Who in our community is bent over, has been bent over for years, because it’s not the right time or that the don’t follow the right rules?  How do we become aware of our own traditions and preferences that keep all from the kingdom?

These are the things that we are called to and you are invited, welcomed, and loved.

Please join us for worship at 9 AM or 6 PM (that’s right – a Sunday night worship service).  We will  pray, worship, & share a meal of grace.

Whoever you are and wherever you find yourself in your journey, know that you are most welcome here.

Blessings,
Pastor Tina
