The announcements and young disciples materials will be sent Saturday.

Grace and peace, Beloved, from the Earth-Maker, Pain-Bearer, & Life Sustainer.  Amen.

Today, Thursday, May 21, is Ascension Day.  Forty days after the resurrection, Jesus was taken into heaven and seated at the right hand of God.  According to our first reading for Sunday, the disciples then go back to the upper room and wait for the Holy Spirit, praying together in the mean time.

And prayer is where our Gospel reading finds us.  After sharing his final words with the disciples, Jesus prays to God to protect and guide them as they now move forward in ministry.  Jesus knows that the next while will be difficult for them.  And so he prays that they remain in unity, as God and he are one.

We’re also in an in-between time.  In ten days, I’ll worship with you for the last time and then the Synod will work with you in the transition.  It is a time to reflect, vision for the future, and as one, pray that the Holy Spirit guides you all into rich and robust life.

On Saturday, May 30 from 4 pm to 8 pm, a Drive Thru Farewell event for to wish one another goodbye and to pray with one another.  An email will be sent on we’ll do this next week. I’d love to see you all!

Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself, know that God loves you.  God won’t forget you because you are God’s.  God is always with you.  And you are most welcome and invited here.

Peace,
